In Chapter 11, the buildings collapsed, the chaotic aftermath of the calamity was described in detail.
Abuse:
Domestic violence, gaslighting, and manipulation was shown in Chapter 14. Emotional manipulation and sexual assault occurs in Chapter 29 as a recalled memory of the main character.
Cannalbal-ism:
The ghouls are undead monsters that eat people and that is how they attack. They is demonstrated in Chapters 1, 16, 26.
Child Death:
The bodies of the children who passed away were shown in respectful repose in Chapter 16. No killing or death of a child are shown, but inferred.
Gore:
Depictions of gore or body horror occurs in Chapters 2, 10, and at the end of Chapters 11, 16, 23, 26.
Lynching:
Hanging occurs from an angry mob and are depicted in Chapters 22 and 23. Chapter 11 depicted it in a dream state.
Misogyny:
Sexism against women was mentioned in Chapter 11.
Religion:
The majority of the Amaveriel citizens follow the Morning Lord and Lune faith, which were based on the Abrahamic religions. Aramis and Korzha don't follow their religion and experience microaggressions or discrimination. These occur in Chapters 3 and 9.
Smoking & Smells:
Aramis, the main character, is a smoker. The action of him smoking is depicted in Chapters 1, 4, 28, and 33. There are references to the smell of white flowers and Jasmine throughout the book, sometimes described as a sickly, sweet, smell.
Torture:
A quick depiction occurs in Chapter 8 as a worying thought. In Chapters 17, and 18 the torture is based on the victim's fear of heights and occurs during interrogation.
